“War for Power in FRELIMO”: Theatre actor excluded from the Gaza Provincial Cultural Festival for impersonating the former Mozambican President Armando Emílio Guebuza

It is a ridiculous case, but a real one. The same happened in Gaza Province, the “bastion of the Frelimo party”. According to the account of the actor who goes by the name of Santos Francisco Uamusse, residing in Chissano, in the Province of Gaza, he said that the play had as its theme: “the homage to President Armando Emílio Guebuza”.

Meanwhile, according to Santos Francisco Uamusse, after they had been qualified for the provincial phase of the Festival of Culture in Gaza, behold, with two days to go, they received a call announcing their elimination, since the piece they were performing, allegedly aimed to “tweak the image of the current President Filipe Nyusi, to the detriment of the former President Armando Emílio Guebuza”, especially at a time when different segments of society are “begging” for the former statesman to run again.

Disgusted, the young actor contested the act and assured that he will continue on stage, even if he is not allowed simply for being a culture maker. Uamusse questions “why politicians confuse its merely cultural staging with the hidden objectives behind the theatrical play”.

Furthermore, this action comes at a time when it has been constant that whenever President Guebuza appears at an event or publishes something on his official Facebook page, several Internet users and followers weigh him in to run again, with some even calling it “Our Lula” like the Brazilian President.
