Two suspects were detained after the attack in central England, police said
Multiple people were stabbed on a train near Cambridge in central England on Saturday, police said. Two suspects have been detained.
Ambulances and armed units were dispatched to the scene around 7:40 pm local time.
“Armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital,” Cambridgeshire Police said.
Videos posted on social media showed a heavy police presence at the train station.
A witness told Sky News he saw “extremely bloodied” passengers fleeing from the assailants. The witness added that one passenger shouted, “They’ve got a knife.”

Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the “appalling incident” and thanked emergency services for their response. “My thoughts are with all those affected,” he wrote on X.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she was “deeply saddened” and urged the public to “avoid comment and speculation at this early stage.”
