“I received the news of the brutal assassination of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe with deep consternation,” Chapo stated, underscoring that this violent act represents a grave threat to the fundamental values that sustain Mozambican society.

In his statement, Chapo offered his condolences to the bereaved families, describing their pain as "indescribable" and hoping they find strength and solace during this difficult time. “May they find strength and comfort in this irreparable loss,” the Frelimo candidate said.

Chapo also expressed solidarity with the legal and artistic communities to which the victims belonged. “I know this is a moment of great sorrow for all those dedicated to defending justice, law, and artistic creation. The violent loss of colleagues is a deep blow, but I urge everyone to remain steadfast in their commitment to defending fundamental rights and justice,” he appealed.

The candidate urged that this tragic event should not distract society from the goal of building a more just and inclusive nation, where human life and dignity are always respected.

Chapo called on the justice system to carry out a swift, impartial, and thorough investigation to uncover the facts and bring those responsible to justice. “Justice must be served. We cannot allow fear to take root in a Democratic Rule of Law. At this difficult time, we demand that the law be upheld,” he emphasized.

In conclusion, Chapo reiterated his total condemnation of the crime and reaffirmed his commitment to defending truth and justice as essential pillars of Mozambique. "I firmly denounce this crime and any form of violence and intolerance in our country. I will always stand for justice and truth as essential values for all Mozambicans," Chapo concluded.
