INTEGRITY-MOZAMBIQUE, July 17, 2023-It was through a press release with the number 04/GCCC/DCI/012.3/2023 issued by the Department of Communication and Image of the Central Office for Combating Corruption (GCCC) this Monday (17.07), in Maputo, informing that “in connection with an anonymous complaint received at the GCCC, which reported the occurrence of illicit for receiving Money in a section of the Judicial Court of the Province of Maputo (TJPM), on July 14, 2023, in Matola City, a Mozambican citizen who, at the time of the facts, was a judge of Law A, in that public institution, was arrested in committing the crime.
According to the complaint, the amount was demanded by the accused from a citizen, party to a process, whose procedures are under the terms of the judicial body in which he exercises functions, as a condition for performing an act within his competence.
According to the GCCC, “since there are strong suspicions of the commission of crimes of concussion and prevarication, after completing the legal formalities, on the afternoon of July 17, 2023, the accused was presented to the judge of the Superior Court of Appeal of Maputo (TSRM) for the first interrogation of an arrested defendant, having applied the maximum coercive measure, pre-trial detention”.
