Chapo promises employment and training programs for youth in Maxixe

Daniel Chapo, FRELIMO’s presidential candidate in the upcoming October elections, on his second day of the electoral campaign in the province of Inhambane, in southern Mozambique, pledged to implement structured employment and vocational training programs for the youth in Maxixe, the economic capital of this coastal province. Chapo’s electoral promise aligns with the vision outlined in his manifesto, which places youth at the centre of government attention.

According to the FRELIMO candidate, Maxixe, as the economic capital of Inhambane, faces significant youth unemployment challenges. He assured that comprehensive employment programs would be introduced, in line with FRELIMO's vision of seeing young people as the driving force behind progress. The focus will be on equipping the youth with the necessary skills and opportunities to thrive.

For Chapo, this youth-centric approach will be realised in part through the promotion of youth associations, an effective model to ensure their participation in development processes and decision-making.

In Maxixe, Chapo also promised to boost the agricultural sector by constructing irrigation systems to enhance production and productivity, creating a supply chain that would justify the establishment of industries.

According to the candidate, attracting industries to the region would secure job opportunities for the youth, one of the pressing local concerns, considering that Maxixe and Massinga are among the most populous districts in Inhambane.

"We will continue investing in professional training, encouraging young people to acquire the skills they need to increase their employability. We aim to build irrigation systems to boost agricultural production, and this will, in turn, attract industries. This will create more jobs for our youth," Chapo said in Massinga.

He also highlighted the need to increase funding for entrepreneurial initiatives that generate income among young people, as well as providing scholarships to ensure they receive education that empowers them to contribute at all levels.

To achieve these goals, Chapo requested votes for himself and FRELIMO, so they could implement the manifesto designed to address the country’s concerns, particularly those of Inhambane province.

"FRELIMO is the only party that understands the people’s concerns. On October 9th, vote for me and FRELIMO," he urged.

Chapo acknowledged the chronic problem of erosion in Maxixe and promised concrete projects to tackle the issue, which threatens to erode some neighbourhoods.

He also pledged to improve the road networks connecting Maxixe, continuing the expansion of paved roads, and intensifying efforts to combat erosion affecting the city's neighbourhoods.

Chapo committed to expanding district hospitals to improve patient care, specifically pointing to the completion of the district hospitals in Maxixe and Massinga.

Among the presidential candidate’s top priorities is the rehabilitation of the Maxixe-Homoine-Panda road. "We are already working on rehabilitating this road. Many people work in Maxixe but live in Panda and Homoine. This is an important route," he stated.

Additionally, Chapo addressed the issue of water tariffs, promising more investment in the expansion of the water supply network to meet the needs of the population.
