Lutero Simango promises to end terrorism and boost industry in Cabo Delgado

Presidential candidate for the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), Lutero Simango, held a rally today in the district of Montepuez, visiting the Mirate Administrative Post and the locality of Mararage in Cabo Delgado province, where he assured the local population that, if elected, he would bring an end to the terrorism that has devastated this northern region of the country.

Simango also vowed to stimulate the economic development of Cabo Delgado by establishing local industries, including a graphite processing plant, a resource abundant in the region, and a timber processing facility. "Graphite should not be exported in its raw form. We will process it here to maximise local development and create more jobs, especially for the youth," the candidate stated. He also committed to improving access to clean drinking water, building quality schools, and ensuring hospitals are equipped with adequate medicines.

The candidate highlighted the need for investment in infrastructure, particularly pointing out the poor condition of the roads, which hinder access to various localities in Montepuez. "With Lutero Simango and the MDM, things will change. Young people, trust us, we have the solution to your problems," he declared, reaffirming his commitment to job creation through industrial development.

Simango, who began his campaign in Cabo Delgado in the district of Balama, also emphasised that he is travelling by road to get a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by the population. He pledged to improve road access to administrative posts, which is crucial for the development of the province's more remote areas.
