On the Kidnappers arrest in Maputo: After all, there were five of them at the time of the operation but three escaped

INTEGRITY-MOZAMBIQUE, July 6, 2023-The Mozambican Police headquarter in the Maputo City did present last night to the press two South African citizens alleged involved in the    kidnapping attempt of the Mozambican businessman Mahomed Rassul, one of the owners of the Gulam Rassul shops. The kidnapping attempt took place yesterday morning on the Karl Max Avenue in Maputo City, and it is presumed that the suspects were in the company of three more Mozambican citizens.

 

According to Leonel Muchina, Spokesperson for the PRM in Maputo City, he said that “we assume that there were  five  people  that have been following monitoring  a  Mozambican business man f Asian origin    And this victim was intercepted, just as he was going to go to his business establishment and precisely as he was getting out of his car, one of these South African citizens, it would be him, however, the mission of dragging this victim to the criminals' car, luckily there was a tactical positioning in that region, and managed to realize this situation, there were some dispersal shots, but also an attempt to immobilize and we managed to stop these two and unfortunately at least three managed to put themselves to flight”.

 

Continuing Leonel Muchina advanced that “but there is information naturally  to clarifying this fact, which is the arrest of these three who are probably even nationals, but what can be advanced at the moment is that these two are of South African nationality and would have been in Mozambique  since the  3rd of last month”. However, the miscreants say they are not criminals.

 

It should be noted that data collected by “Integrity” indicate that the two South African citizens have the following names: Bhekuxolo Ngoyu, 39 years old, and Samuel Lipota, 48 years old and after being arrested, they were taken to the 1st Police Station of the City from Maputo, but at the time of arrest none of them had a firearm, and were subsequently taken to the Central Headquarters of the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR).
