Momade pledges two daily meals for every mozambican
Ossufo Momade, the president of Renamo and a candidate in the upcoming October 9th presidential elections, has vowed that if elected, he will ensure every Mozambican has at least two meals a day.
This commitment was made today (01) in the city of Nampula, where Momade kicked off his campaign, nine days after the official start of the electoral race.
"We want to develop our country so that our people can have lunch and dinner, at least two meals," declared Momade during a popular rally, which followed a march through the streets of Nampula.
This statement reflects his vision of a government that prioritizes the basic well-being of its citizens, in stark contrast to the current economic and social situation in the country.
In addition to promising improvements in food security, Momade committed to promoting good governance free of corruption, emphasizing that only Renamo can bring about this change for Mozambicans. "We do not want state officials taking money from our people.
We do not want illicit charges, because Mozambicans must work to develop their country," he stated, stressing the need to respect citizens' rights and eradicate corrupt practices.
Momade also highlighted the need for reform within the state apparatus and the importance of expanding mechanized agriculture to ensure national food production. His vision is of a government that balances administrative efficiency with the creation of conditions for food self-sufficiency.
The Renamo candidate further criticized the high salaries of the Chairpersons of the Boards of Directors of public companies, in a context where the state struggles with liquidity issues to pay the wages of essential workers, such as teachers and doctors. This criticism is part of a broader discourse on the need for better management of public resources.
Momade urged voters to entrust him with five years of governance to solve the problems that he says Frelimo has failed to address in 49 years. After his stop in Nampula, the Renamo candidate is set to move on to Niassa Province, with a planned stop in the district of Cuamba as part of his campaign agenda for Monday (02).
