According to the general director of the BRAVANTIC technology group, Eduardo Vicente, speaking on Tuesday, in a Cybersecurity Summit held in Maputo, the attacks include fraud by phone, internet or email, data theft and cyber extortion.

“We are a very vulnerable country. We are not yet mature enough to consolidate some steps, we need to implement cybersecurity and cyber resilience”, he said, warning “it is urgent to work on strengthening cyber security.”

He explained that attacks are the result of the digital transformation worldwide.

“There is an increase in attacks because of the digital transformation. It is a pity that there are companies that are attacked but do not make this information available for reasons of image and internal disclosure policies”, he added.

Vicente, regretted the lack of reliable statistics due to a reluctance of companies to report that they are victims.

Given the lack of reliable statistics, it is not at all clear how Vicente reached the figure of 1.5 million attacks a month.
