Ossufo Momade aims to revive factories in Monapo the traditional way
RENAMO's presidential candidate, Ossufo Momade, continued his vote-seeking campaign in Nampula, today visiting the town of Monapo, where he expressed his ambition to industrialise the area. Momade emphasised that Mozambique is not a poor country but rather one in need of serious and responsible leadership to drive development. In this district, after reigniting hope among the local population, he urged voters to support him and his party.
“We have projects—projects to develop Mozambique, because Mozambique is not poor, Mozambique is rich. Mozambique needs serious, responsible leaders, not mafiosos, not corrupt individuals, not thieves. We want to work,” he declared.
Momade repeatedly stressed the issue of industrialising the town, given its history of factories. “We want to invite investors to ensure we can reestablish factories here, so we can continue processing our cashews and revive the soap factory. We have the capacity for this, so that our young people, our fathers, and our mothers can have jobs. These investors are not far away, because we know the ones who were investing here, and I will call them. I know them—they’ve spoken with me, and I will invite them to return,” he affirmed.
On the same occasion, Momade reiterated his proposal, similar to South Africa’s system, to establish three regional capitals in Mozambique: a political capital in Maputo, a parliamentary seat in Beira (as the central zone's capital), and an economic capital in Nampula (the northern capital). He clarified that this plan is not intended to divide the country but rather to create conditions for the economic and social development of these regions.
The RENAMO candidate continues to campaign in Nampula, promoting his governance project in an effort to attract voters.
