Since the arrival of the Angolan couple in Maputo City, the capital of Mozambique, their life has been a real “hell”.

Looking to the ongoing situation, early this year in February, about 12 individuals tried to kidnap Man Gena, or simply, Gelson Quintas, when he was heading to the Istanbul restaurant in the yard of the Maputo Shopping Center, in Maputo city, however, the quick reaction of the mozambican police avoided the worst from happening. Since then, “Man Gena his life including his “Wife Mia” and their children was never the same.

Months later after the kidnap attempt, she lost her new baby born daughter at the Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), the largest hospital in the country, which at the time the “Mia” ended up accusing the Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, of having given orders for the inhumane situation that the couple lived. Unfortunately, no one from the Government gave explanations about the allegation, and the couple's version is clear in the memory of several Mozambicans, Angolans and others, because although the HCM gave a technical explanation to the certain press though did not deny the accusation, the fact is that the “Quintas family” still defends standing up that his daughter was killed!

However, on Wednesday (29.06) in an interview given to “Integrity”, Man Gena and his wife revealed that a few days ago their partner “was poisoned” in the residence where they are in “prison” and guarded by more than five agents, since allegedly “Mozambique still criminalizes political asylum”.

According to “Man Gena”, the case is being followed by the United Nations, UNHCR, the Mozambican Bar Association (OAM) and the Catholic Church, but all organizations only say that the “case is complex and that no one from the Mozambican government wants to talk about it”, which is why the “Quintas family” lives in a SENAMI residence, located in the Central district, in the city of Maputo, where even “sunbathing” is not allowed. As we found out, in the last few days, they only managed to leave the residence when ‘Mia’ was poisoned.

In the telephone interview with “Integrity”, Man Gena fears for his life and  life  family and asks those who are entitled to resolve his situation, since he believed that  coming to Mozambique he would have  protection for  his children and wife  after  denouncing  the “main drug trafficking bosses in Angola” and who, by the way, has connections with the mafia that operates in Mozambique, through the Nigerian network, where even one of the central pieces was recently detained in Maputo in possession of 17 kg of cocaine.

In Mozambique, Man Gena accuses the Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, of obstructing human rights organizations from working or even having contact with them. In Angola, “Man Gena” revealed in an interview that the current Minister of the Interior, Eugénio César Laborinho and the highest head of Criminal Investigation in Angola were from the “central group of the dark plot of dust and liamba in the land of sables”.

Man Gena, who swears “feet together” that he has already been in the underworld of the millionaire drug business in Angola with connections to Congo and Mozambique, through the sea, guaranteed that in Angola, politicians have “drug containers in their farms and because he has all the information, they want to shoot him down.”

Faced with the situation, “Integrity” tried to contacted the Angolan Embassy in Mozambique, SENAMI, the Angolan Community in Mozambique, but without success.  However, a source from the Ministry of the Interior, who requested anonymity, explained that “the case has strong internal opponents, since the revelations of 'Man Gena' in Angola  shaked the  vast intercontinental structure of drug traffickers with strong political connections, as was seen in April 2021 with the arrest of Fuminho in Maputo, a case that after the arrest of Brazilian boss, several interest groups began to move with a view to preventing or postponing  the deportation of the Brazilian who, by the way, worked with the Nigerian network in Mozambique and with strong political and economic tentacles.”

In short, after the contours that the Fuminho case had in Mozambique and the image it left, according to the source, no one at the level of the Mozambican military authorities is willing to leave a figure like “Man Gena and the family” calm and with the information it has, with some leaders defending its return to Angola and others who impose respect for international legal precepts and the “stain that the country will have if the worst happens”, specifically, at a time when the country is part of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
