Daniel Chapo highlights agricultural mechanization as solution to unemployment in Búzi
On the second day of his electoral campaign in Sofala province, FRELIMO presidential candidate Daniel Chapo emphasized agricultural mechanization as the key to creating a significant number of jobs in Búzi, a district where unemployment, particularly among the youth, is a major concern.
Speaking at a popular rally in Bandua, Chapo pledged to revitalize the agricultural sector and reactivate the Búzi Company, a sugar production factory that has been dormant for several years due to a lack of investment.
Chapo underlined that agricultural mechanization would not only increase productivity but also foster the emergence of small and medium-sized enterprises in the agro-processing sector, creating new job opportunities.
He assured that he is already working with investors interested in revitalizing the Búzi Company, which would bring significant economic benefits to the region.
Drawing from his experience as Governor of Inhambane, where he successfully attracted investments to the agricultural sector, Chapo promised to implement similar strategies in Búzi, transforming subsistence farming into mechanized production.
This commitment aligns with FRELIMO’s electoral manifesto, which advocates for the growth of primary production sectors and the establishment of rural processing units capable of generating capital and jobs.
The candidate also highlighted the importance of a comprehensive agricultural mechanization strategy that includes all stages of the value chain, from the provision of inputs and financing to the marketing and export of agricultural products.
Chapo assured government support for the agricultural sector, with the introduction of agricultural insurance, extension and research services, and the promotion of commercial agriculture to ensure food security and the production of raw materials for agro-processing.
Chapo appealed for the local population’s vote, promising to work tirelessly to address the region’s key issues. He reiterated that he is the candidate of the people, particularly the youth, and is committed to addressing their concerns and fulfilling their aspirations.
In Nhamatanda, where Chapo continued his campaign, the candidate explained the significance of his position on the ballot, stating that the number 2 symbolizes the union between the government and the people in building a stronger and more prosperous Mozambique.
"United, we are unbeatable," he declared, emphasizing that the alliance between Chapo and FRELIMO is meant to ensure that the voices of all Mozambicans are heard and addressed.
After visiting Búzi, Chapo proceeded to Nhamatanda district, where he will hold another popular rally, continuing his campaign with the goal of winning local support.
