General Elections 2024: Venâncio Mondlane advocates for the restoration of the philosophy behind the national education system
Venâncio Mondlane, the presidential candidate for the General Elections on October 9, is advocating for the restoration of the philosophy that created Mozambique's National Education System.
Mondlane, who also supports the creation of a combatant status covering all generations of the country's combatants, believes that education is a key area for continued investment and reform.
"[In the education sector], which is a crucial area in the country, the National Education System was created in 1984. I believe the form and philosophy are sound; the main issue has been with the implementation," Mondlane stated.
He added that another problem arose in the follow-up, including the investment or lack thereof, and the confusion that developed around it.
Nevertheless, Venâncio Mondlane acknowledges that the idea behind the creation of the National Education System, which consists of about six subsystems, and its underlying philosophy, was not flawed.
The general elections in Mozambique, scheduled for October 9, will feature three candidates: Venâncio Mondlane, running as an independent; Daniel Chapo, supported by Frelimo; Ossufo Momade, from Renamo; and Lutero Simango, from the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM).
